About Andrew Brodsky

Management Professor and Founder of Ping Group

Andrew Brodsky is a management professor at McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin and author of Ping: The Secrets of Successful Virtual Communication. He received a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Harvard Business School and B.S. from The Wharton School. His two streams of research focus on the impact of technology on individuals at work and workplace communication challenges. He has a particular interest in the intersection of these topics in examining the impact of workplace virtual communication and optimal strategies for its utilization. Some of his current projects examine topics such as:

How to encourage employees to challenge the status quo and raise innovative ideas when they are interacting virtually.

How to effectively communicate emotions and authenticity virtually.

How adapting new communication technologies impacts work outcomes including culture, productivity, and employee wellbeing.

To address these topics, Andrew has conducted research, led training, and consulted with organizations around the world such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Amazon, Dell Technologies, Novo Nordisk, GuideWell Connect, BombBomb, and KinderWorld Education Group. His research has been covered in media outlets such as The Economist, Harvard Business Review, Wall Street Journal, NPR, and CNBC. In addition to his teaching at McCombs, he has previously taught courses on negotiation and organizational conflict resolution at the Harvard Extension School, and has facilitated courses on leadership for both the Harvard Business School Executive Education and MBA programs. Andrew was selected as one of the world’s ‘Best 40-Under-40 MBA Professors’ by Poets&Quants.
